For those who do not know, I usually do a “Road to….” entry or two on my old site and my social media pages when I have a book ready to come out and this time it is for The Paradox Complex
June 2016, after a two year wait, I finally released my seventh poetry book META- (Complete) and my original plan was to finish working on my novella Three Crowns and begin writing my first novel The Escape of Ernest Frost (Three Crowns is now available, The Escape of Ernest Frost available later this year). As we all know, sometimes things turn out differently than we expect. While I was writing the final chapters of my novella, I was still writing poems. I had no intentions of re-releasing META- because it was selling quite well and was getting positive responses (at the time of this writing, it has a perfect score on Amazon), and the poems I was writing didn’t have the same style and content as META- so I decided I’d just keep writing the poems and see how they turn out.
There were a few things I noticed with the poems I was writing; for starters, a lot of the poems I wrote post META- were much lighter in content. I also noticed despite the lighter content, I was writing about contradictions. I decided to keep writing these poems to see where they would lead me. I had a working title for what would eventually become my eighth poetry book. Like other writers, I have friends I talk to about writing and I told one of them that even though I had not planned to write another poetry book immediately after my last one, I was and that the working title was The Paradox Complex and if he had any other ideas for a title I was open to opinion because it was a working title, meaning I wanted to change it before its release. He told me keep the title so my eighth poetry book is titled The Paradox Complex
With each book there’s a theme and a comparison to my older books. The theme to this book is even though we as people contradict ourselves, we are still good at our core. The writing style is similar to my sixth poetry book Approaching Humanity because I’ve written more lyrics than poems but this book is also similar to META- because it contains more personal material (a lot of you liked the personal material in there so I’m continuing the personal material).
The Paradox Complex will be available very soon.
